On a similar, and somewhat related topic to the net-creeper-dick thread, I would like to address the phenomenon of exhibitionist types posting their crappy amateur porn, crudely modified by a photoshop filter, as "Erotic Art."

Much like the case of the dick galleries, this is a type of post that requires me to find a balance between trying not to impede the free expression of others, and maintaining a standard of artistic quality on this site. These photos are not deserving of being displayed alongside the very high quality of work that real artists are posting here. However there is a whole continuum of grey area that makes it very difficult to "draw the line."

So, as with the dick galleries, I'm putting this one out there for you, the community, to discuss and hopefully come up with some feedback that will help define more clearly where that line should be.

We agreee Justin. All the effects in the world wont help a crappy pic. A cheap snapshot will always look like a cheap snapshot. This site is about real photographs by real photographers right?

I would sooner see a small membership of quality than a large membership of sludge.

If all someone has is dick pix with filters and effects...they arent photographers anyway.

Nix them.

Of course, it does all come down to who is viewing the photos. What is porn to one person might be considered art to someone else and vice versa. A friend of mine has told me point blank that all of my erotic photos are porn because they depict nudity - no matter how well "presented" that nudity may be. Again, it all seems to be in the eye of the beholder.

Whenever I photograph nudes -whether they be male or female- I very seldom shoot closeups of the genitalia. On occasion, I have photographed male models with full erections. These shots, however, were done from a distance and feature some creative post editing(Two of these images are here in my current gallery).

I have to say that most of the work I've seen on this site is quite good. There may be a couple of pics that push the boundary but not overly so ( I will admit that, yes, some of my work pushes the limits- but I try not to get too extreme)

I think what this all boils down to is the very fine balancing act between what most would consider artistic and nice to look at as opposed to something that is skanky and sleezy. This is difficult to do. However, the main criteria is the overall artistic content of the image. Is the image one that may eventually wind up on a gallery wall or is it one that will be viewed by some pervert in a bathroom stall?

We partially agree...but women take up the bulk of our work with a few males for variety. Filters we rarely use unless for a planned effect. It is a way to enhance a photo...not save it...same goes for tiling an image. A great photo doesnt neeed these effects. In our shoots we usually take genital closeups too..but those are mostly to give to the model..unless of course they they stand out artistically. We enjoyed your last line...it should become the sites motto GALLERY WALL or BATHROOM STALL...lol.
